The target group is any worker who requires to identify OHS/WHS hazards, assess risk, as well as follow instructions and procedures in the workplace with minimal supervision. The worker will also be capable of participating in and contributing to OHS management issues within the workplace.
The course is designed to cover OHS/WHS requirements and legislation for normal day to day activities in compliance with legislative requirements and duty of care. This in turn enables the safety systems to meet safety legislative requirements and maintain a safe working environment.
- Understanding of OHS/WHS requirements and safety legislation within the workplace
- Understanding of identifying hazards, assessing risk, controlling hazards as well as following instructions and procedures in the workplace with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of emergency procedures.
- Enhancement of established safety systems and procedures.
Assessment for this unit of competency will be by simulation of work place practices. Assessment will occur over a range of situations. Assessment will be conducted through actual demonstration of competencies and written and oral testing of underpinning knowledge.
Training will be delivered utilising theory and practical activities. Simulation will be based on actual conditions and will include walk throughs of the relevant competency components. Delivery will include trainer led presentations / scenarios.
